One day, Jesus and his disciples were in a remote place. A large crowd had followed them, hoping to hear his teachings. As the day wore on, the people grew hungry. Jesus’ disciples were worried because there was no food nearby. They suggested sending the crowd away to find something to eat. But Jesus said, “You give them something to eat.”
Philip, one of the disciples, replied, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Another disciple, Andrew, found a boy with five small loaves of bread and two small fish. He said, “Here is a boy with a little food, but what is that among so many?”
Jesus took the loaves and fish, looked up to heaven, and gave thanks. He then broke the loaves and handed them to his disciples to distribute to the crowd. Miraculously, the food kept multiplying. Everyone ate and was satisfied. Afterward, the disciples collected twelve baskets full of leftover pieces. This miracle showed that Jesus had the power to provide for people’s needs, even when it seemed impossible.
