In the ancient land of Egypt, the Israelites were suffering under the harsh rule of Pharaoh. They were enslaved, forced to build great cities and monuments with their sweat and tears. Moses, a Hebrew raised in Pharaoh’s palace, was chosen by God to lead his people to freedom. He went before Pharaoh, asking him to let the Israelites go. But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he refused.
God sent a series of plagues upon Egypt to show His power and convince Pharaoh to release the Israelites. Finally, after the last plague, Pharaoh relented and allowed them to leave. The Israelites fled, guided by Moses and the presence of God in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
As they reached the edge of the Red Sea, Pharaoh changed his mind and sent his army to pursue them. The Israelites were terrified, trapped between the sea and the approaching Egyptian chariots. But Moses stood firm, raising his staff over the water. By the power of God, the sea parted, creating a path of dry land through the waters.
The Israelites walked through the parted sea, their hearts filled with awe and gratitude. The Egyptian army followed, but as soon as the last Israelite was safely on the other side, the waters crashed back together, swallowing the pursuing Egyptians. The Israelites were delivered, and they sang songs of praise to God, who had shown His mighty hand and brought them safely out of Egypt.
