Daniel was a faithful servant of God, living in Babylon. One day, the king made a law that no one could pray to any god or man for thirty days. Daniel, however, continued to pray to God three times a day. When the king’s officials saw this, they accused Daniel of breaking the law. The king, though reluctant, had to follow his own decree and threw Daniel into the lions’ den.
As Daniel was lowered into the pit, the king was filled with sorrow. He sealed the den with a stone and went back to his palace, unable to sleep. The next morning, he rushed to the den and called out, ¡°Daniel, has your God been able to deliver you?¡± Daniel answered, ¡°My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths. I am unharmed because I have trusted in him.¡±
The king was overjoyed and had Daniel lifted out of the den. He then threw Daniel’s accusers into the den, and the lions devoured them instantly. Daniel’s faith in God had saved him, and the king proclaimed that all should honor Daniel’s God, who had shown such power and mercy.
